(If we lived a few km further out, passing iPhones would be scarcer and the track-ability would be much less.) There is no 'range' per se. We live in a suburban/rural area, so there are plenty of iPhones around to report their position if a pup gets lost. The AirTags are of significant but admittedly limited utility for us. We have plenty to spare, but so far (knock wood) there's been no breakage.
